Assembly theme: Black History Month

3rd October 2022Joanna Patch

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honours all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

The Big Sing – get into music assembly

14th September 2022Joanna Patch

On Friday, 9 September, Year 7 enjoyed the Get into Music Assembly. We at Oathall work with West Sussex Music and Love Music School to offer instrumental and singing lessons at the school during and after the school day. The tutors are all professional musicians and teachers who are passionate and enthusiastic about all styles of music. The main focus of these lessons is to make music fun, and to inspire and encourage creativity and confidence whilst progressing. Students can learn just for fun or work towards grades if that is of interest.

For more information on instrumental or vocal lessons, please click on this link to get in touch with our instrumental and vocal teachers directly, or send a message to Mrs MacTaggart using the form below:

[contact-form to=”[email protected]” subject=”Contact following the Big Sing”][contact-field label=”Name” type=”name” required=”1″][contact-field label=”Email” type=”email” required=”1″][contact-field label=”Message” type=”text” required=”1″][/contact-form]

Many of our teachers offer one free trial lesson to students interested in taking up lessons. Places are limited, so please get in touch if you would like to take up this opportunity.

In addition, students can develop their skills and make new friends by joining one of our lunch-time or after-school clubs:
Singing Group: Tuesdays after school (3:05 pm until 4:05 pm) with Mrs Mac Taggart and Mrs Dias in Room MU01. Our specialist singing teacher will be leading the first two sessions.
Orchestra: Thursdays after school (3:05 pm – 4:15 pm) with Mrs MacTaggart and Mrs Dias in Room MU01.

MCAS – My child at school

2nd September 2022J Godbolt

Oathall uses the Bromcom portal for parents called MyChildAt School or MCAS for short.

What is MCAS?

MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) is a portal that can enable parents to view their child’s academic
performance in real-time via a web browser mobile app. This facility allows exclusive
access to key academic dates, attendance information, and personal details the
school holds for you and your child. This portal will also provide access to other features such as homework, assessment & reports, timetables, behaviour, and parental consent. Initially, we may only launch some of these aspects whilst we continue to test and set up the functionality.

There are two ways of accessing MCAS.

  1. You can download the MCAS app to use on your mobile device. We encourage parents to set up the app on their mobile devices. This means we can send notifications about your child to your mobile phone.
  2. If you prefer, you can also set up your account via a web browser.

How to access MCAS

We will issue parents with an invitation code. This will be sent using the email address that you have provided to the school. If you do not have an invitation code please contact the school on [email protected] as you will not be able to set up an account without one.

When you have your invitation you will need to go to the parent login page at Mychildatschool.com from here please click on the “Redeem invitation code” and complete the instructions to set up your account. Full instructions may be found here in this guide.

Oathall students celebrate exceptional exam results for 2022.

25th August 2022J Godbolt

Many congratulations to Oathall students who are celebrating impressive results this summer. We are immensely proud of all of our students who have responded well to the challenges they faced post-pandemic and whose results are testament to their hard work and commitment.

It is already clear that the outcomes achieved by Oathall students are considerably higher than the national figures reported today.

The fact that 33% of all grades, across all subjects, were awarded at 7 or above illustrates how ambitious Oathall students are to excel academically. Reflecting on the school’s priority of best progress for all, 83% of all grades were at 4 or higher. There were many individual success stories with 24 students achieving 8 or more grades at these highest levels.
The college has seen excellent results in all areas of the curriculum. Notably, 53% of students achieved a grade 5 or better in both English and maths.

Mr. Rodriguez, Headteacher congratulated all the students on their results and said:

“It is delightful to see that all the hard work of students and their teachers has been rewarded by these excellent results. There have been some terrific results across a range of subjects and some impressive individual achievements amongst our students; it is especially pleasing to see so many of our students reaching their full potential. These admirable results are a reflection of the commitment by students and staff to succeed which could not have been achieved without the support of parents and families.”
