Thinking about a career in teaching?
Oathall is committed to developing outstanding future teachers, and we play a very active role in Initial Teacher Education (ITE). We work closely in partnership within our own Mid Sussex Federation of schools, Sussex, Brighton and Chichester universities, GLF to provide high quality training placements for those seeking a career in teaching.
We are also proud to be part of the new Tanbridge Teacher Training Hub, a brand new SCITT Hub delivering excellence in Teacher Training across Sussex. Find out more about training with us and starting your career as a Teacher at: Tanbridge Teacher Training
We’re looking for people who have (or will have) a degree, have a passion for teaching and want to inspire young people to fulfil their potential.

Our experience in teacher training, our strong exam results and Ofsted report enables us to support placement across a wide range of subjects leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). There are three main routes to be considered:
- A University led PGCE route leading to QTS with Oathall leading one of your school placements. Applications are made to the University.
- A school-based route through our partners at GLF. All training is led by GLF partner schools leading to QTS with Oathall leading one of your school placements. This route does not award a PGCE. Applications are made to GLF.
- The School Direct route leading to QTS. The majority of your placement is at Oathall with input from Universities and partner schools dependent on course.
Please contact our Assistant Head & Professional Tutor Faye Hatchard, if you require further information on any aspect of the application process or wish to visit the school and discuss our program. We can offer school experience days and weeks to gain a greater understanding about the career.
To book places on the School Experience Day you will need to register here.

What support will I get during my training?
At Oathall, we provide a strong support network for trainees. On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with your subject mentor and other members of the faculty. In addition to this, you will have a professional tutor who will meet with you regularly to keep an overview of your training. The ITT Core Content Framework and the Early Career Framework (ECF) is covered in the school Professional Studies Programme, working alongside the university providers.
