And the winners are…

Endeavour house were the triumphant winners in the first ever, Oathall School Games week. Students in each of the four houses competed in inter-house matches in football, bench ball and cross-country running competitions.

Oathall’s under 15 girls cricket team have beaten all the opposition to become National Champions in the Chance to Compete 2014 Girls U15s cricket finals held on 15 September in Birmingham.
Chance to Compete is a national secondary school competition aimed at giving secondary state school children an opportunity to play competitive cricket. Matches are played in under an hour and all participants play a significant part in the game. (more…)

Oathall’s cricketing girls book place at Lord’s

Oathall U15 Girls Cricket team
Oathall’s under 15 girls indoor cricket team have booked their place in the 2014 Lady Taverners National finals at Lord’s. The Oathall team, representing all of Sussex won their place by beating off competition from Kent, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire in the group stages before knocking out Essex in the semi-final. The team then went on to face London and victory in the final match. The team will now represent the South East in the 2014 Lady Taverners girls cricket Indoor National finals to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 7 May. (more…)

Howzat! Our U15 girls are champion cricketers

Our champion cricketers

Our U15 girls are Sussex Indoor Cricket Champions 2014.

28 schools from across the county entered the Lady Taverners Under 15 Indoor Cricket Tournament – the biggest field of entries to date.  Oathall Community College’s team of 10 prevailed at the county final with a consistently strong showing in all three rounds of play.

They will now go forward to represent Sussex at the regional finals of the tournament on Thursday 3 April in Surrey.

Ms Laura Gyngell from the PE department said: “Our girls stamped their mark early on in the tournament beating rivals from the likes of Brighton College and Oakmeeds with ease. This is a fantastic achievement and the team should feel very proud of the result and their professional conduct.”

U14 football champs

Our U14 football champs!

Our Year 9 boys won the Mid-Sussex District U14 7- a-side football competition on Thursday 6 March at Oakmeeds Community College in Burgess Hill.

Oathall triumphed over teams from St Pauls, Oakmeeds and Weald on their way to the final securing three clean sheets in the process:

  • OCC 1-0 St Pauls
  • OCC 0- 1 Weald (B team)
  • OCC 2-0 Weald (A team)
  • OCC 2-0 St Pauls in final.

On Tuesday 28 January Oathall Community College entered two teams into an inclusive New Age Kurling Competition at St Wilf’s CE Primary School, Haywards Heath.

It was organised by Mid-Sussex Active, our local schools sports partnership.

School Games Day 2013

18th July 2013Oathall

Friday 12th July saw Oathall’s first ever fully completed School Games Day!  Students battled it out in their tutor groups in a variety activities from swimming to tug of war, in the hope they would be crowned The School Games Day Champions 2013.  All students played their part in making the day a success, whether competing, supporting or officiating, students were a real credit to the school. The winning tutor groups were: 7 KPM, 8 DT, 9 VT, and 10 TI.

Congratulations also go to the following tutors who had a competitor in every single event and race:
7AP, 7BP, 7KPM, 7BA, 7ASM, 7KJ, 7ARK, 8ASW, 8SMR, 8JPT, 8PR, 8DT, 9 CEE, 9KRG, 9VT, 9DRM & 10TI.

Parallel Youth Games

Parallel Games Students

Well done to all of the Year 9 students that volunteered at the Parallel Youth Games at the Triangle in Burgess Hill. The games are a disability event for all schools in Sussex and children take part in a range of activities from New Age Kurling to Cricket.  Oathall’s Year 9 students officiated in the Boccia and played their part in making the event both enjoyable and successful.

Year 8 student Luc Rohan took part as a competitor in the Mid-Sussex swimming team.  Our congratulations go to Luc who achieved two 1st places and one 2nd place in his events, leading to a gold medal for the Mid Sussex Team. Luc will now start training for the athletics at the Sussex School Games finals at K2 on Wednesday 10th July. (more…)

U15 Rounders Champions

24th May 2013Oathall

On Wednesday 26 May, the U15 Rounders team won the West Sussex PE Girls Association area tournament.

The girls played exceptionally well throughout,  beating Weald 10-2,  Downlands 5-5½, Hazelwick 10-3 and Warden Park 5-1. We drew against Millais 5-5 but luckily still got into the final.  We were up against Burgess Hill School for Girls.

It was a great game, the girls held their own and won 4-1 ½ getting 8 of the opposition players out! Congratulations to all who played, an amazing victory!
