Monday 29 June is an INSET day and the college is closed for staff training.
From Tuesday 30 June onwards, students are expected to return to school at the usual time for registration at 8:40 when they will follow their normal timetable. Students will be dismissed at the normal time of 15:05. School buses will return to their normal times.
Students are expected to return to school wearing their normal uniform with the exception of blazers and ties. These need not be worn until further notice.
After school on Wednesday of last week, over 300 students and some members of staff, took part in the House charities Colour Run 2026.
Each participant paid £5 to take part. Once the cost of the powdered paint was covered, the remaining funds – £1,450 – were divided between the Houses four chosen charities.
The event began with the warm up and then the runners went off in their respective year groups to complete four laps of the the field.
It was a fantastic event and great way for the students and staff to let off some steam, have fun and raise money for their charities. We want to extend our thanks to the parents for their support both before and after the event, and everyone involved in making it happen.
You can watch some footage of the event below. This is also available via the school YouTube channel. Why not subscribe whilst you’re there?
We are super-proud of our three Y10 Business students – Freya, Mattie and Jasmine – who have successfully completed the Youth Entrepreneurs Academy Haywards Heath (YEAHH) Programme, culminating with a business fair held at the Orchards last month, where they marketed and sold their Sip Kits – mocktails in a jar.
The programme is lead by Haywards Heath Town Council and supported by Haywards Heath Business Association and The Orchards Shopping Centre. Students attended a series of masterclasses with local business professionals to learn about marketing, finance, networking, leadership and problem-solving, all of it backed-up by their curriculum learning at school.
It was a big commitment from the students and they more than rose to the occasion, increasing their confidence, business knowledge and entrepreneurship skills.
Due to the high temperatures forecast for next week, students may wear their Oathall PE kit from Monday. Alternatively they can wear normal school uniform without a blazer or tie. They may also wear hats when outside. These arrangements will be in place until further notice.
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle that they can refill at breaktimes. They will also be able to come into the hall during breaks if they would rather not be outside.
I hope that these adjustments will mean that students are as comfortable as possible in the heat.
On Friday of last week eight Oathall students did battle it out in the every popular, annual Bake Off event.
They had the morning to bake their creations – the theme this year being, The Circus. And the judges confirmed the standard of baking was exceptional.
Cuckfield Lindfield & Haywards Heath Rotary – sponsors of the event for over a decade – co-judged the bakes (along with Oathall teachers Mrs K Tyers, Mrs S Kirkpatrick and representatives from our catering team) and awarded marks based on appearance and taste.
All eight students received a goody bag containing measuring spoons, cupcake moulds, cake skewers and silicone spatulas – along with their certificate and personalised Bake Off apron!
But there had to be overall winners. Emily, Isobel and Alexis also received a voucher for £30, £20 and £10 respectively.
1st Emily S
2nd Isobel M-E
3rd Alexis T
Congratulations to everyone who made this event possible. We look forward to going again next year.
You can see some of the bakes and excerpts from interviews with the entrants below or on our YouTube channel.
The first week back from half term was a flurry of activity on the farm as we welcomed the Y4 Groundbreakers class from Blackthorns Community Primary Academy. As part of their Location, Location, Location week the Y4s visited Oathall Farm to learn about the significance of living in a rural area and what benefits a farm can bring to the local community. The group were buzzing with questions about the farm’s sheep, pigs, chickens and guinea pigs and were able to get up close and personal with many of the farm’s residents.
Following their visit in April to see the new lambs and learn about our veteran oak trees7 the Y2 Explorers class from Blackthorns have sent thank you cards highlighting what they enjoyed the most about their visit, and even their future farming aspirations!
It is a privilege to be able to host visits like these at Oathall Farm and inspire a new generation of farmers in our community, and we look forward to welcoming them back.
West Sussex County Council Public Health team has designed this new online resource for parents and carers, bringing together key information, resources and support services to help families stay safe this summer.
We would especially like to draw your attention to the Water Safety advice in light of the incidents which occurred around the UK in the recent heatwave.
