Oathall students celebrate exceptional exam results for 2022.

25th August 2022J Godbolt

Many congratulations to Oathall students who are celebrating impressive results this summer. We are immensely proud of all of our students who have responded well to the challenges they faced post-pandemic and whose results are testament to their hard work and commitment.

It is already clear that the outcomes achieved by Oathall students are considerably higher than the national figures reported today.

The fact that 33% of all grades, across all subjects, were awarded at 7 or above illustrates how ambitious Oathall students are to excel academically. Reflecting on the school’s priority of best progress for all, 83% of all grades were at 4 or higher. There were many individual success stories with 24 students achieving 8 or more grades at these highest levels.
The college has seen excellent results in all areas of the curriculum. Notably, 53% of students achieved a grade 5 or better in both English and maths.

Mr. Rodriguez, Headteacher congratulated all the students on their results and said:

“It is delightful to see that all the hard work of students and their teachers has been rewarded by these excellent results. There have been some terrific results across a range of subjects and some impressive individual achievements amongst our students; it is especially pleasing to see so many of our students reaching their full potential. These admirable results are a reflection of the commitment by students and staff to succeed which could not have been achieved without the support of parents and families.”

School half-day – Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 July

17th July 2022J Godbolt

We have been closely monitoring forecasts over the weekend. As a result, a decision has been made to close the school early due to the likelihood of very high temperatures on Monday and Tuesday. The school will close early at 12:30 pm on these days. Normal lessons will be taught up until then, but the DFE has made it clear that physical activities should not take place.

We have taken this decision because of the difficulty in keeping students and staff safely cool in the school buildings, almost all of which have no air conditioning and which face into the sun for the best part of the day.

We hope to be able to rearrange the school bus collection time accordingly. Any students unable to get home will be supervised in the hall (generally cooler).

Our remote learning offer is available to students to facilitate working at home. More details are provided below.

We thank you in advance for your support in this action.

Yours Faithfully

Mr Edward Rodriguez

Please read our student heatwave action plan.

The school games day has been moved to Wednesday 20 July and will be kept under review.

Remote Learning

Remote learning is available to your child while the school is closed. There will not be live teaching, the work will be accessed via your child’s google classrooms. Classroom codes can be found here, your child should follow their usual timetable and look at subjects which they are due to be taught. Teachers will email their classes directly, giving them any additional instructions about their learning and attach any resources they may need.

In Years 7,8 & 9, students may also like to attempt one of our Super Curriculum activities.

If you have any questions regarding remote learning please feel free to email your child’s teacher directly or email [email protected]

2022-2023 School Captains

24th June 2022J Godbolt

We are delighted to introduce the new 2022-2023 School Captain team.

This year’s successful students were chosen following a rigorous selection process involving a whole school vote, submission of letters of application as well as being interviewed by Mr Rodriguez and Miss Gyngell. Isla and Tadiwa Kimberly were chosen to be school captains with Alex and Daniel selected as deputies.

Becoming a senior student leader is a great achievement and we have every confidence that this group of mature and confident individuals will do a great job in the coming year.

Oathall Exam Results 2021

12th August 2021J Godbolt

Many congratulations to all Oathall Community College students who are receiving the results of their GCSEs and other qualifications today. Their outstanding outcomes have been achieved under the most extraordinarily difficult circumstances and truly reflect the commitment and hard work of the year group. This will ensure that students can progress onto the next stages of their education with confidence.

Following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards.

Oathall’s headteacher, Edward Rodriguez said:

Oathall students have again achieved very highly and they should be very proud of what they have accomplished. Their resolve and commitment to their studies under the most challenging circumstances is to be applauded.
Teachers have worked extraordinarily hard guiding their students to their highly successful outcomes alongside the tireless support from their parents.

You are a Champion!

9th July 2021J Godbolt

The English team at Oathall is so excited about year 6 joining us in September that they thought the perfect way to share their love of reading was to present all of our new students with the gift of reading in the form of Marcus Rashford’s newly released book, ‘You are a Champion’.

The English team put a lot of thought into our choice and believe that ‘You are a Champion’ will inspire the new cohort to read; that it will build their confidence and self belief, and ultimately that it will help them to see that they can achieve whatever they want to with the right mindset.

The English team can’t wait to meet the next set of champions.

Oathall’s outdoor learning hub

19th May 2021J Godbolt

After a year or more of stops and starts the Oathall forest school programme is now up and running and an established part of the curriculum at Oathall.

Forest2
ForestS1
ForestS3

The programme based predominantly on the farm offers short courses to students in years 7 and 8. Students are encouraged to take part in outdoor learning activities with cooking over an open fire being a big hit. Students are responsible for fire lighting and using hand tools to build resources and cooking tools from wood. Equipment and resources for this new addition to the curriculum have been supported by a generous donation from Fairfax Properties ‘Building Young Futures programme’

Mr Blackholly, said

I am delighted with the way that student’s are progressing and we are hoping to develop the resource further making it into an outdoor learning hub for the school.
