Some New Additions on the Farm!

25th March 2013Oathall
First steps...

First steps…

The lambing started at the beginning of March and we’re now surrounded by 54 noisy babies.  We have just two more to come and then we’re done.

The main problem for us at the moment is the weather – by now we would hope to have at least half of them out in the field but the weather has made this very difficult.

We’ve also had two more litters of piglets – both sired by a Large Black boar.

As you can see this gives us some lovely black piglets from the Large Black sow and very pretty spotty ones from the Large White sow.

Year 9 Careers Speed Dating

12th February 2013A Oathall

To support the KS4 options process, on 18 January our Year 9 students made a date with experts from twenty-five different professions from around West Sussex including computer animators, doctors, publishers, scientists and airline engineers. They filled the sports hall and spent the morning on rotation around the space. In groups of around 5, with 5 minutes per session, the students fired questions at the experts, discussing aspects of their work and trying to get as much information from them about what their job entailed, the qualifications required and the routes they took to get there.
