Friday 12th July saw Oathall’s first ever fully completed School Games Day! Students battled it out in their tutor groups in a variety activities from swimming to tug of war, in the hope they would be crowned The School Games Day Champions 2013. All students played their part in making the day a success, whether competing, supporting or officiating, students were a real credit to the school. The winning tutor groups were: 7 KPM, 8 DT, 9 VT, and 10 TI.
Congratulations also go to the following tutors who had a competitor in every single event and race:
7AP, 7BP, 7KPM, 7BA, 7ASM, 7KJ, 7ARK, 8ASW, 8SMR, 8JPT, 8PR, 8DT, 9 CEE, 9KRG, 9VT, 9DRM & 10TI.

The National Students Art Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London
Congratulations to our gifted and talented Art and Photography students whose work has been selected to be exhibited in The National Students Art Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London. The exhibition, which opened on the 9 July, is under the patronage of the Royal Society of British Artists and it is a marvellous accolade for the artists and schools selected. This is the third year running that Oathall students’ work has been exhibited and we are delighted that so many of our students have been recognised at this level.
And here’s a clip of our students being interviewed.

It is with much pride and satisfaction that I can report to you a hugely successful Work Experience week has been recently completed by all Year 10 students.
Students were offered placements in a wide range of employment sectors including retail, finance & insurance, sport & leisure, catering & hospitality, education, pharmaceutical, uniformed services, travel, marketing, veterinary medicine & animal care, motor vehicle, IT & design, engineering, farming & horticulture, building services, medicine & dentistry, hair & beauty, performing arts. Some students independently secured their own placements whilst others used the area data base and College contacts to find a suitable company to visit for the week. (more…)

Students from local primary schools joined students from Oathall Community College in raising the roof with their beautiful performance of Emile Sande’s “See Beneath You’re Beautiful” accompanied by members of the school orchestra and special guest, cellist Hannah Carter.
This was followed by the energetic Afro Blues rendition of “Obatala” arranged specially for the event by Martijn Van Galen. Head of Vocal Studies for West Sussex, Emily Barden, led the two hundred and fifty voice choir including an inspirational performance “Oh My Day”, which was beautifully sung in three parts. We admired the talents of all the young performers and especially those who stood up on stage with the senior students to lead the performances and the young man who played the keyboard.
You can listen to the performances via the link below. We hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!

86 Students and 14 adult volunteers have just completed a weekend of hiking & camping on the South Downs and Ashdown Forest in preparation for the Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze Award Expedition taking place later this year.
