This assembly celebrates all the hard work and achievements from this half term.
We are looking for ten students from years 7, 8, 9 and 10 to take part in our live bake-off on Thursday, 22 June 2022.
We will supply the ingredients and equipment. You just need to bring the decorating items, cake board and a box to take it home.
We are looking for a novel, well-presented and tasty creation to impress the judges.
This year’s theme is Celebration Cakes.
To be in with a chance of being a participant, just bake your creation at home, take a photo of yourself and your cake, and either email it to Mrs Kirkpatrick ([email protected]), along with your name, tutor group and recipe (including ingredients).
Sorry, no paired entries – you must bake alone.
All entries are to be in by Tuesday, 6 June.
Good luck.
This week, our year 8 students enjoyed a visit from The Globe Players who put on a lively performance of key scenes from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Our students were captivated and will benefit from the play being brought to life by the performers as they study the text in their English lessons.
Thank you to The Globe Players, and to all involved with organising this wonderful event.
Our top readers in year 8 went to hear award-winning author Sarah Crossan recently and what an event they were treated to. Sarah writes novels in verse and she talked about what poetry is, how verse is all around us, and she challenged the audience to think about what poetry is. One of our students even went up on stage to perform a rap from the musical Hamilton, proving that verse can be found in many forms. Our students came away buzzing and eager to read her books and others in verse.
International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia is observed on May 17 and aims to coordinate international events that raise awareness of LGBT rights violations and stimulate interest in LGBT rights work worldwide.

Here at Oathall, we take mental health seriously, and our pastoral team are always on hand to offer support to our students. Monday, 15 May 2023 sees the start of National Mental Health Awareness Week, and we will be focussing on this as part of the national drive to raise awareness of mental health and its importance to all of us.
For more information about our approach to mental health, please see the pages on our school website:

This assembly explores what kindness is, by saying, “Thank you,” “I appreciate you,” “You are valued!” or “Are you OK?” It’s letting people know that they are noticed and valued.
The Oathall Canteen staff have outdone themselves once again, transforming our dining hall with flags and colours ready for our students to enjoy. The centrepiece of a beautifully decorated cake is ready to cut, not to mention the lovely cupcakes individually decorated for the occasion.
Well done to all involved, and thank you for all your hard work.
Parent Partnership meeting: Thursday, 18 May – 5 pm – Oathall Library
Agenda: SEND, Inclusion and pastoral support
Leads/guest speaker: Sam Goodyear – SENCO and Jill Garraway
The Parent Partnership was established in March 2018 and meets once every half term to discuss important issues for both parents and the school. It aims to be successful in contributing positively to the development of our School Community. The Partnership has a dual purpose:
- Provides a stakeholder panel for views on new initiatives and developments within the school
- Provides parents with a voice in the development of the school
The group will meet in the library at Oathall between 5 pm and 6 pm. All parents are welcome to attend; there is no commitment required. Please do come along and offer your voice to the discussions. The agenda for each meeting is sent out to all parents via the school email system the week before the meeting takes place.
For further information please contact Miss Froud, Assistant Headteacher, 01444 414001 or via email on [email protected]
