Black History Month

1st October 2024E

October 1st marks the start of Black History Month and the history department are running a competition to honour it and celebrate diverse stories.

We would like students to research a diverse story and submit a piece of work that summarises how it helps to celebrate black history in Britain. This could be in the format of:

  • A written piece
  • A video explaining why the story is so important
  • An artistic piece that portrays the story

For example, this might be a personal story or a novel written by a black author.

These are just some ideas – history teachers will discuss this during lesson time this week. Entries will go towards the monopoly boards and house points! The deadline will be 15.1.24

New Senior Prefect Team

16th July 2024E
After a gruelling interview day we are delighted to announce this year’s Senior Prefect Team. 13 students from Year 11 applied for these roles and went through a rigorous application and selection process. All students displayed maturity beyond their years, shared innovative ideas and responded to interview questions with in depth and well structured responses. The final decision was incredibly difficult and Mr Rodriguez, Miss Powell and myself agreed it was the strongest field we had ever been presented with. Congratulations to from left to right, Mia Macguire (vice Captain), Flora McPherson (School Captain), Zac Nicholson (School Captain), Ella Banbury (Vice Captain) and Martha Wood (Vice Captain). We all very much look forward to working with them to continue to develop Oathall for the student body.

Goodbye Year 11!

5th July 2024E

This week we have said goodbye and good luck to the class of 2024.

Our students were treated to a breakfast brunch where they signed each other’s shirts and ate pastries and donuts. This was followed with their final assembly full of memories of their time at Oathall and fun farewell messages from all their tutors.

The day was finished off with their Y11 Leavers’ Dinner at Plumpton racecourse.

We wish them all the best of luck in their future adventures!
