Last week, Lucas Foreman, Alex Houlders-Worsfold, John Moore, and Hannah Smith, four of Oathall’s brightest Year 10 mathematicians travelled to Brighton to compete in this year’s ‘Year 10 Maths Feast’ competition.

Organised by the Further Maths Support Programme, the ‘Maths Feast’ is a competition with a menu of challenges designed to test students’ creativity in problem solving, team working and communication skills. Oathall was one of 15 independent and state schools from Sussex participating in the event at Dorothy Stringer School in Brighton.

Oathall’s great team work and results were noticed early on in the competition and after winning the first two rounds our team went on to win third place after Lancing College and Brighton College, both independent schools. The students from Oathall were also awarded with the ‘Best Teamwork’ award.
