Happy new year to you from all at OCC!

The governors, staff and students of Oathall Community College would like to wish friends of our school a very happy and healthy new year.

2013 was a fantastic year for us, there were so many highlights, here are just a few…

  • Our U13 girls became rugby county champions in March
  • In April 70 of our students completed and collected their bronze or silver DoE Awards at a celebration event – this is well above the national conversion rate
  • Our U13 Girls Cricket Team gained the title of County Champions for the third consecutive year in April
  • At the end of May our U15 Rounders team won the West Sussex PE Girls Association area tournament
  • Our handsome Ayrshire dairy cow Rusty 10 scooped three awards at the Heathfield Show
  • In July our gifted and talented art and photography students exhibited work in renowned National Students Art Exhibition in London
  • Our Year 11 students gained our best GCSE results to date in August, 74% of all grades were C or higher, 49% of all grades were B or higher and 32 students (15%) achieved 8 or more A* and A grades!
  • OCC student and Young Farmer, Katie Russell had great success at the Edenbridge and Oxted show in August 2013
  • Ofsted deemed us to be a good in all areas following a visit in the autumn
  • Student Pippa Cox received the prestigious Princess Diana Award for her community work
  • Our music students had the chance to play with the fabuolous London Philharmonic Orchestra in the beautiful chapel at Ardingly College in October
  • Our farm shop was named best new business at the 2013 Bright Awards in November
  • In December we opened our doors to the local community, welcoming hundreds of visitors to our Christmas production, our annual OAP luncheon and the carols in the barn event, it was lovely to see so many old friends and welcome new faces.

We can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for Oathall Community College!
