Earlier in the year, Lydia Wilkins in Year 11 approached English teacher, Ms Abrahams with the idea of producing a student-led school magazine. Ms Abrahams agreed to help and over the last term has been working with a group of students to produce a magazine.
The first edition of ‘Equinox’ was launched this week and is packed full of articles on a range of topics including school-life, sports, book reviews, and Christmas items. As well as this there are a number of interviews with students and music journalist Dan Cleeve. All of the articles and interviews were contributed by students Johan Panicker, Laura Whitnall, Hannah Shae-Stewart, Darcy Gee, Vicky Payne, Francesca Weekes, Julia Karwat, Petra Demjan, Emily Brock and of course, Lydia Wilkins.
On this occasion only a small number of magazines have been printed and next term the group hopes to be able to create an online version. The next edition is due out at the end of the Spring term. The group welcome contributions from all students at Oathall and guidelines for the next edition will be issued in January.
Ms Abrahams and the team extend their thanks to everyone who helped put this together, especially Karen Grace in resources and Dominic North who made sure the magazine was available before the end of term.
