Adverts, application forms and information about working at Oathall.

Premises Officer

21st May 2026Sara Atkin

22.5 hours per week (52 weeks a year) working Mondays and Tuesdays with the third day to be agreed.

Premises officers generally work a 7.5hr day (with a 30 minute unpaid break) on a rota covering the hours of 07:00 – 18:00. Very occasionally, you may be asked to work outside of these hours or on a weekend. (For example, our annual open day, occasional evening events in school.)

Grade 4, SCP 5 – Actual salary £15557
Other benefits include 15 days holiday and participation in the generous local government pension scheme (19.7% employer contribution), free use of the school gym. Access to WSCC employee benefits.

Oathall Community college is seeking to appoint a part-time premises officer to join our busy premises team looking after the facilities in our large and diverse campus. Reporting to the premises manager, the successful candidate will work as part of a team to ensure that the college facilities are well-maintained, well-presented, safe, and secure.

Previous experience of working in a practical premises or building related role is preferred but we would consider applications from candidates with a ‘can do’, solution focussed approach to work, and a willingness to learn and gain experience on the job. As you will be working in a school setting you will need to have good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Applicants should be aware that the role involves regular physical effort and exposure to environmental demands.

Oathall Community College and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.

Candidates are welcome to visit the college for a tour of the site before applying. If you wish to visit the college, please call Mrs Sara Atkin on 01444 883202 to arrange an appointment.

Applications should be completed via the website using the non-teaching application form along with our recruitment monitoring form and a short letter of application (no more than one side of A4). Please email the documents to [email protected] or post to Mrs Sara Atkin.

The closing date for this post is 9am on 10 June 2026.

Suitable candidates may be invited to interview prior to the closing date and we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should sufficient applications be received.
