Black History Month

1st October 2024E

October 1st marks the start of Black History Month and the history department are running a competition to honour it and celebrate diverse stories.

We would like students to research a diverse story and submit a piece of work that summarises how it helps to celebrate black history in Britain. This could be in the format of:

  • A written piece
  • A video explaining why the story is so important
  • An artistic piece that portrays the story

For example, this might be a personal story or a novel written by a black author.

These are just some ideas – history teachers will discuss this during lesson time this week. Entries will go towards the monopoly boards and house points! The deadline will be 15.1.24

GCSE Results 2024

22nd August 2024J Godbolt

Congratulations to Oathall students who are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results.
Oathall is delighted to announce another year of strong GCSE results, reflecting the hard work, commitment and dedication of students. Students of all abilities have achieved results of which they should be very proud.

Early analysis indicates that their progress and attainment is significantly above national average with 78% of grades awarded at 4 or above, 64% at grade 5 or above and 31% graded at 7 or higher. Students achieved excellent results across a wide and varied curriculum.

There were some exceptional individual performances. 30 students achieved 8 or more results at grade 7 to 9 and 42 students achieved 7 or more grades 7 to 9.

New Headteacher, Toby Houghton said,
“Our students should be extremely proud of the results they have achieved today. These successes highlight the hard work and dedication of our students and I am delighted to see that their efforts have been rewarded. I would also like to thank all our staff for their commitment in supporting our students as they prepared for their exams. I wish all the Oathall leavers the very best of luck as they move onto the next steps in their education.”

New Senior Prefect Team

16th July 2024E
After a gruelling interview day we are delighted to announce this year’s Senior Prefect Team. 13 students from Year 11 applied for these roles and went through a rigorous application and selection process. All students displayed maturity beyond their years, shared innovative ideas and responded to interview questions with in depth and well structured responses. The final decision was incredibly difficult and Mr Rodriguez, Miss Powell and myself agreed it was the strongest field we had ever been presented with. Congratulations to from left to right, Mia Macguire (vice Captain), Flora McPherson (School Captain), Zac Nicholson (School Captain), Ella Banbury (Vice Captain) and Martha Wood (Vice Captain). We all very much look forward to working with them to continue to develop Oathall for the student body.
