School Trip to Ypres, Belgium

2nd June 2025E
61 Year 9 students and 6 staff members from Oathall spent two days in and around the town of Ypres in Belgium just before half term! We had a very busy itinerary visiting a number of World War 1 cemeteries, museums and monuments including the Menin Gate. Students had the opportunity to learn about the war in this area from our two very well versed expert guides as well as more hands on experience of the trenches and conditions endured by the servicemen.  We heard stories of local men who lost their lives and more personal pilgrimages for some of our students who lost relatives.  A blend of learning and reflection was experienced by us all.
