A swimming pool, the famous Copacabana beach and the Olympic medal winning podium were among some of the creative cakes baked by Oathall students in last week’s Rio Olympics inspired 2016 Oathall Bake Off competition.
The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Haywards Heath, involved 9 Oathall students who were challenged to bake cakes based on the theme of 2016 Rio Olympics. The Rotary Club of Haywards Heath supported the event by providing prizes and judges.
Students had 6 hours to bake and decorate their cakes before submitting them for a blind judging. The judging team, awarded points for appearance, originality/creativity, skill level, texture and flavour.
The winning cake, with a theme of Olympic medals was baked by Emily Brock, with cakes by Esme Brigden and Jazzy White taking second and third place. All the entrants received embroidered aprons and the cookery book ‘Nosh for Students’. The winners received gift vouchers.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Haywards Heath for their sponsorship of this event and to the judging team, Mrs Jane Mowforth, Mr Alan Jenkins and Mr Charles Slack for their time and support.
