It’s been a fortnight of competitions for staff and students at Oathall – with winners all round.
Over 50 students from Oathall took part in the 2016 South of England show. Our Students showed our Ayrshire cattle with great professionalism taking a fourth and a fifth place. We also showed commercial pigs on behalf of Andrew Strong gaining two first places. And, as in previous years, students gave their support to the show by carrying the breed boards for the cattle parade in the main arena.
Also at the show, student Ryan Breading received his award for the ‘Young Craftsman of the Year ‘. The award was in the design and technology section of this competition. Ryan designed and built a birdbox using a variety of materials and techniques.
In the 2015 – 2016 Haywards Heath Rotary Young Photographers’ competition, Thomas Huxley won first prize. The theme for the competition was ‘Our world is beautiful’. The prize for winning was a photography course at Park Cameras.
And finally, a team of 12 Oathall teachers and staff took part in the Mid Sussex Triathalon held at the Triangle in Burgess Hill. Everyone who entered finished the course with an overall combined team time of 20:18:12. The team entry was coordinated by Mr. Robinson, who said:
“It was great to see so many colleagues competing. The weather could have been better but we all enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely be back next year.”
