It is with much pride and satisfaction that I can report to you a hugely successful Work Experience week has been recently completed by all Year 10 students.
Students were offered placements in a wide range of employment sectors including retail, finance & insurance, sport & leisure, catering & hospitality, education, pharmaceutical, uniformed services, travel, marketing, veterinary medicine & animal care, motor vehicle, IT & design, engineering, farming & horticulture, building services, medicine & dentistry, hair & beauty, performing arts. Some students independently secured their own placements whilst others used the area data base and College contacts to find a suitable company to visit for the week. (more…)
Year 7 students participated in 8 different activities during their weekend stay at Windmill Hill.
Every student was given the opportunity to test their nerve in the challenging tasks on offer.
Good team work and encouragement together, with lots of fun, ensured that all students achieved things that they didn’t think possible.
Students are enjoying the various activities on offer.
Its ‘Moustache Day! Students get ready for their morning activities.
To support the KS4 options process, on 18 January our Year 9 students made a date with experts from twenty-five different professions from around West Sussex including computer animators, doctors, publishers, scientists and airline engineers. They filled the sports hall and spent the morning on rotation around the space. In groups of around 5, with 5 minutes per session, the students fired questions at the experts, discussing aspects of their work and trying to get as much information from them about what their job entailed, the qualifications required and the routes they took to get there.
Following on from their success at the district finals our senior public speaking team attended the South East regional finals at Chessington Community College on Sunday 25th March.
Andrew Pearcy, Tom Hother and Dan Kingdom once again delivered superb speeches. Speaking against a strong field of students from mainly independant schools their performances shone out and we can report that they were once again victorious! The team now go through to the National Finals which will be held in Wrexham, Wales at the end of April.
This is a fantastic achievement for our team; they have worked hard on their speeches and have consistently risen to the occasion. We are extremely proud of their achievements and wish them all the very best in the finals.
