The first meeting of The Friends of Oathall – the re-launched PTA – last week was hugely successful, so we thought it was important to follow up with another next month to keep the momentum going!
So, you or cordially invited to join us on Thursday 14th May from 7pm in the school library.
Everyone is welcome. Come and join us, meet other parents and hear about our ideas to get our PTA active this year.
His selection is a credit to him and is the result of his gruelling training schedule with Brighton Phoenix, enviable mental strength and wholehearted commitment. We wish him the very best this weekend!
It’s a great opportunity for our talented students to perform on stage in front of a live audience and if it’s anything like last year – a photo from which you can see below – you can expect a fantastic evening of entertainment.
Congratulations to the Year 7 netball team who have been undefeated all season making it to the county finals – only to win that as well!
An enjoyable day out with a lovely bunch of young women, who even made a music video in their bye games. Proud of them all, what a fantastic achievement.
A number of students and teachers participated in an Open Mic event in the library on Wednesday lunchtime last week, to mark Earth Day. The theme – Nature – provided those present with the opportunity to ponder the future of our planet, and reflect on what we can all do to help preserve it.
The students selected extracts from books, read poetry and even composed their own for the occasion. Their assurance in front of the microphone and their ability to convey the key messages from the pieces they read from, was first class.
Special thanks to our wonderful librarian for organising and MC’ing the event and to the students that gave up their lunchtime – including Ryan and Sammy on “Sound” – to help facilitate the occasion.
The Art, Photography and 3D Design faculty have launched a photography competition – which students are being encouraged to enter from today!
The theme is Local Landscape and Nature. Students should email their photos to Miss M Raphael by the closing date 1 June 2026.
The winners and runners up will receive a certificate and their winning entries will be displayed in the school. Everyone who takes part will receive 3 credits each.
The countdown to the inaugural Battle Of The Bands event is now less than two weeks!
Reports from the music department are that rehearsals are going well and that the eight bands – all current students at Oathall – are ready for the showdown.
The important date for your diary is Wednesday 6 May, and the event is due to start at 3.30pm prompt. The battle takes place at Oathall in The Albermarle Centre and tickets are free. Please can you complete this Form to let us know if you are planning to attend.
The format for the event will be that each band will perform one song each, and the panel of judges will select the winner and runners up on the night. The winners will be invited to perform at the Cuckfield Music Festival – and the winners and runners up with play at the Summer Concert, both in June.
We expect to wrap everything up by 5.30pm – and look forward to seeing you there. It promises to be an epic night.
Once again – please complete this Form so we can get a feel for numbers and prepare the room accordingly.
We would like to welcome you on Wednesday 6th May to our next Parent Partnership Meeting from 5pm to 6pm in the Library. The theme for this meeting is Living with teenagers: how to support their wellbeing.
This week was the final session of this year’s Summitting programme for our Year 11 cohort. A group of 20 Year 11 boys have been working with Duncan Wood-Allum from SLC transforming public leisure services – on their future career and life pathways. Duncan leads a highly successful consultancy in the public sport, leisure and active wellbeing sector and is passionate about supporting young people in realising their true potential.
The programme is now in its fifth consecutive year, and focuses on future aspirations and ambitions, setting goals, action planning, accountability and financial awareness.
It is such a wonderful programme and equips the students with the knowledge and skills that they need to be able to step confidently into their exciting ‘next steps’ as they near the end of their time with us at Oathall.
We really appreciate the time Duncan gives to mentor our students over an extended period.
Y8 maths students had the opportunity to visit Oathall Farm this term to meet the new lambs as part of their subject focus on data.
In the sessions run by Farm Education & Engagement Officer Mx Sveinsson and the Mathematics department in the last two weeks, students were able to discuss what data is recorded from the flock and how it informs their care, as well as seeing how the new lambs are weighed.
These sessions provided a great opportunity for students to ask questions about the flock, the other animals on the farm, and animal husbandry as a whole.
Sessions like these demonstrate what a vital resource the Farm provides the school, and highlights some of the cross curricular learning that is undertaken.
