Oathall hosted a one-day workshop last week to add the finishing touches to a unique mosaic that will be installed at Haywards Heath rail station on 18 September 2016. The mosaic is a collaboration between Oathall and 6 local schools.
The theme of the mosaic is Twinning and Friendship. Oliver Budd, a renowned mosaic artist, created the final design for the mosaic by combining all of the designs created by the pupils. Pupils from each school came along to Oathall throughout the day where Oliver taught them how to create and assemble the mosaic.
Haywards Heath Twinning association were also involved in the project and provided great support and encouragement to everyone involved. Town Mayor Cllr Sujan Wickermatchi also paid a visit to see the work in progress and was delighted by what he witnessed.
All of the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can take pride in the wonderful piece of artwork that they have created together. The artwork will be installed at the station to be viewed by over 4.1 million passengers who use the station each year.
