Author visit is a magical experience for our Year 7 students

Author visit is a magical experience for our Year 7 students, featured image

Yesterday, author of the Faery Realms series of books, Bex Hogan visited the school to talk about fairly tales, Cornish folklore and how both have inspired her career as a writer.

Bex delivered a fascinating presentation about the history of fairy tales and specifically the origin of one of the most famous fairy tales of them all – Cinderella.

She went on to discuss her books and how her love of fairly tales and interest in Cornish myths and legends, have inspired this series – the first of which was one of the books selected and enjoyed by the Oathall Book Club last year.

Our Year 7s sat respectfully and listened attentively as she recounted the tales that influenced the version of Cinderella that we know and love today.

At the end of the session the students had many questions for the author which showed how enthusiastically they’d engaged with the event.

The author went on to talk to some students individually whilst signing copies of books for her eager fans.

We like to extend our thanks to Bex for giving of her time so freely and for inspiring our students.
