Magenta preparing for some Carols in the Barn!

Oathall Community College has held its annual Carols in the Barn event on Thursday 12 December.

In the days running up to it farm staff and student volunteers decorated the barn with lights and other festive trimmings while a large Christmas tree generously donated by Balcombe Estates provided a spectacular centrepiece.

Past and present students, parents, staff and members of the local community packed into the barn for a cold but magical start to Christmas.  Under the watchful eye of the animals a selection of traditional and religious readings were given and music students raised the roof with renditions of lots of festive favourites.

After the last song had been sung carollers warmed themselves with fruit punch and mulled wine whilst the Christmas tree was auctioned off for the benefit of St Peter and St James Hospice in Chailey.

Mr Edward Rodriguez, Headteacher said: “This popular event in the school calendar is jointly organised by the music, RE and farm teams, I would like to thank all of the staff and students who helped to make this such a special and successful event.  I would also like to thank Mrs Pen Greenwood for donating such a fine Christmas tree.”
