Students are introduced to some of the animals on the farm
During the early part of their ICT course students in Year 7 develop their desktop skills using Microsoft Word and Publisher.
Students will use approximately 25% of their curriculum time in ICT to produce a Farm Guide making use of all their ICT skills. They are given the opportunity to visit the farm to take digital photographs.
They then produce a Guide aimed at a specific target audience eg primary school pupils or adults, which will include word processed information, digital photographs, images downloaded from the Internet, word searches, interviews and animal facts and stats.
The process will include discussion about the importance of audience and the relevance of the finished piece of work to its intended audience.
Most students take a real pride in this piece of work and once printed they have it laminated.
Each student evaluates his or her own work in order to improve their standards in future.
