An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is the most esteemed scholarship of its type in the UK. It is designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as future leaders in engineering. The Scholarships are awarded to hard-working 16-year-old students through a rigorous selection process, supporting them through their A Levels, Scottish Highers or equivalent qualifications.
Every scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company, charitable trust or personal donor. This means that support is offered in various different ways. For example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for your curriculum project, and a personal mentor who can help you with aspects of your studies and career planning.
In 2020 Ella Tingley applied to the Arkwright Foundation and went through a series of assessments. The process started in October with the initial application. In February there was an exam. This was then followed by a final interview for those students who had been successful in each round.
Ella was contacted in September 2021 by the Arkwright Foundation, informing her that she had been successful in her application.
Ella has been partnered up with the Ernest Cook Trust, who will be her sponsor. Ella had a natural interest in Environmental Engineering, so her sponsors are best placed to mentor her in this specific sector. Ella is an incredibly intelligent and hard-working student, and we at Oathall are absolutely delighted with her news. We wish her well in her future studies and career.
Ella is currently studying physics, chemistry, maths and English at the International Baccalaureate, Varndean.
