GCSE Results 2018 – Provisional

This year saw a significant amount of change with regard to the exam system. Students sat
the new grade 9 to 1 examinations in most subjects. These new examinations have an
increased level of challenge to account for the new grade 9 and the vast majority of subjects
now have no coursework or internally assessed elements. The tier system has also been
changed or removed in many subjects.

With all this in mind, the advice from the Department for Education has been to avoid making
comparisons between the results from last year and this year. The data below is provisional
and may change. Final, validated data with comparisons to national results is available in
November. An early analysis shows that attainment at Oathall is well above the national
average.

22% of grades at A* to A / 9 to 7
74% of grades at A* to C / 9 to 4
75% grade 9 to 4 in English
76% grade 9 to 4 in mathematics
68% 9 to 4 in English and mathematics
50% 9 to 5 in English and mathematics
41% English Baccalaureate (standard pass)
Attainment 8 score = 48.6
